Posting the serial #? Man gives no fucks.

[–] 3 pts

OP don't do this again. seriously.... you are asking for trouble.

[–] 7 pts

He has a 1911. I think he'll be fine.

[–] 2 pts

When I lived in town (same house for 20 years) I don't think any of my neighbors even knew I had any guns. I never open carried outside, or walked around without a cover garment when I did carry. Never carried gun cases outside the house. Always backed the car into the garage and loaded everything for the range behind closed doors. No NRA stickers, no "Come and Take Em" signs. Nothing. If and when someone comes through the door with malice in mind, I want what happens next to come as great big fucking surprise.

[–] 1 pt

Standard op sec. If the enemy doesn't even know you're the enemy you're that much better off. No political stickers or clothes with political themes; no gun stickers, signs, clothes, or accessories. Nobody needs to know anything about you.

[–] 0 pt

I agree, but we are talking about different things. I am talking about the gov putting you on a list because you are on this website posting your serials, tied to a user name and address etc. now the feds know exactly who this user name is. through the records of who ever registered that toaster, ya dig.

[–] 3 pts

I think about stuff like that too. But if he has the original sales receipt along with that tag it would be difficult for someone to try and claim it stolen. In the end tho, I wouldn't be posting the serial numbers. Hell, bad as I'd like to show off sometimes I'm pretty reluctant to just post up pictures of stuff.

[–] 4 pts

Not really that, ATF now knows who that username is.

And they're tyrants, so they share it with everyone.

[–] 0 pt

Paperwork containing the serial number is supposed to stay with the gun store unless the ATF asks for it.

[–] 0 pt

Digital images themselves are marked with data about time and location. Even printer paper is tagged these days. Information war

EIGHT HUNDRED FUCKIN DOLLARS???????

[–] 4 pts

Better than spending 800$ on random bullshit

[–] 2 pts

I spend at least $800 a week on Amazon shit I don't need or even want, so, yes

[–] 1 pt

What the fuck do you spend $800 a week on, dragon dildos?

[–] 1 pt

Good for you m8. A man should always do what he thinks is right. And a proper gentleman should always go heeled.

[–] 1 pt

800 should be semi custom 1911. Not a basic gi

[–] 1 pt (edited )

Basic GI 1911A1 is something of a style statement. Some folks just like it that way. That said, the trigger, manual safety and the grip safety have been changed out and are NOT original 1911A1 GI parts. Not saying bad, per se. Just not original parts. And $800 for a used, modified, and not all original piece would seem a tad high to me. That said, given the current market, he might have been lucky to find a piece at all. https://www.rockislandauction.com/detail/55/1748/remingtonrand-1911a1-pistol-45-acp https://www.gunbroker.com/item/910282270 https://www.sportsmansoutdoorsuperstore.com/products2.cfm/ID/50250

Shit's gettin' real out there.

[–] 1 pt

I mean...it's a 100 year-old design, that machinists can whip together in a few hours...EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS???

[–] 0 pt

We need more machinists. Industrial tools and knowledge are key to survival as we know it.

The bucks are soon to be worth $0. The gun is eternal.

I bought a .32 automatic for 50 bucks, about 40 years ago. I am still stuck in the past..

I have a S&W PD commander 1911, a beautiful pistol. My primary CCW. However, .45 caliber ammo is expensive and hard to find lately, so I bought this:

https://www.browning.com/products/firearms/pistols/1911-22.html

A Browning M1911 in .22 caliber. It’s 85% the size of a typical 1911. It operates exactly the same as any M1911. Fun to shoot and way cheaper. It’s the first gun I let my wife shoot. She loved it. Anytime a friend who has never fired a gun before asks me out of curiosity, this is the gun I show them first and let them shoot before I drag out the .357 magnum, Mini-14, and AR-10. Got to break them in gently if their father failed to raise them properly.

[–] 0 pt

The Mini14 is on my list. Do you like it? Would buy again?

[–] 1 pt

I love it, the garand style mechanism is a pleasure to operate. I have the Ranch version but use iron sights. The wooden stock is old school but feels right. I’ve never had a stoppage even with cheap ammo. This is my 2nd one, I lost my first one in a burglary, I didn’t have a safe at the time, it had a trigger lock and was well hidden but they found and took it. I have my second one, it’s in a gun safe, if I where to lose it, I would definitely buy another one.

Dan Wesson 45acp. Worth every penny I paid

[–] 0 pt

Best price performance in 1911s IMO. Dan Wesson's are some tight fitting fine shooting shit. You paid under $1000?

[–] 1 pt

No because I bought from a small local shop. Like supporting the small guys. $1600 but I don’t regret it.

[–] 0 pt

Late model grips and drilled trigger, hmmm

[–] 0 pt

Nice piece blablah, piece of history.

I have a cat laser pointer, shit's useless my cat doesn't even chase it any more.

[–] 0 pt

So cool.

Here's the one I'm buying.

https://pic8.co/sh/D5f2xl.jpg

An Imbel MD1N, a single stack .380acp 1911.

[–] 2 pts

Why get a 1911 chambered in .380?

[–] 0 pt

Collecting, amongst other things.

Also, for the price the guy asked, i couldn't say no.
