The poll was for people who know what they're talking about

Anything doublestacked in 9mm using special subsonic rounds or handloads only b/c of capacity. A handgun is not a long range weapon princess. What do you think happens when you break the sound barrier you fucking retard? On a subsonic .45 round you can actually hear the mechanical bits on your gun move when you fire it suppresses so well. Most .45 rounds are subsonic.

It's a given that subsonic ammo would be used

45 Long Slide with Laser sighting

It is not about the gun... it is about the caliber.

Sub-sonic rounds are a must and as such you want to choose a round that is designed for 'Heavy and slow' rounds rather than 'light and fast'. Sure there are 147g 9mm rounds that are sub-sonic but you are going to be way better off with a .45

When I look at my boxes it's only about a 70fps difference between 45 and heavy 9, still makes a big difference?

But a .45 weighs more... both weight and velocity determine how much energy or stopping power you are delivering to the target. If you are limiting the velocity to stay below the speed of sound, then you want to maximize the projectile weight.

  • 115gr 9mm @ 1,180 ft/s (supersonic) = 355 ft⋅lbf of energy and a power factor (using IDPA rules) of 135.7

  • 147gr 9mm @ 990 ft/s (subsonic) = 320 ft⋅lbf of energy and a power factor of 145.5

  • 230gr .45 APC @ 835 ft/s = 356 ft⋅lbf of energy and a power factor of 192

edited for clarity: So in the above examples all three projectiles carry similar amounts of energy but the .45 delivers 40% more stopping power!

I know there are some modded pistols with slide-locks for that reason, one is glock based. But I was looking for the best all around pistol not the quietest.
