I have a mossberg. It's fine.
Skip the current 870 for now. QC is shite on them.
Mossberg 500 or a 590A1 for the USMC version if you're willing to spend a few more $$$.
Maverick 88 if you want the cheaper version. These are American made.
And older used 870 would be ok, mine was made in the 50's.
Used Ithaca 37s can be had for decent money.
Winchester 1300 is good but I have no experience with one.
If you want super short but no hassle and also like the space gun look the Kel-Tec KS7 is cool.
I would avoid anything that only has a pistol grip with no stock, also known as PGO. I'd also stay away from the Mossberg shockwave & the Remington TAC14.
You can go even cheaper if you're ok with Turkish or Chinese made shotguns.
Thanks! Why avoid the no-stocks? I just want something to blast a nigger as he's crawling thru my window...and it must be made in USA.
They are very difficult to shoot accurately. Opposite of popular belief you can miss with a shotgun, especially at hallway distance. Pellet spread is much tighter than most think and you'll probably be using 00-Buckshot with 9 pellets in it. PGO shotguns can also really damage your wrists. You'll want a stock. It's about being effective more than looking cool. I'm pretty sure the cheapest NEW US made shotty you can get would be the maverick 88. Otherwise the Mossberg 500 is probably an all around safe bet. If used is ok your market opens way up.
Don't rule out some of the Berettas & Benellis. They make damn nice guns.
A lot of it is going to come down to how much you want to spend.
This dude is right. Pistol grips are dumb on a shotty. They kick like a fuckin mule and you will lose control or break your wrist. Short barrel short stock pump action. The noise is a deterrent
Thanks, kinda what I figured. I live in a nice area, but it's isolated. There was a nigger on the run in the woods last week, they finally caught his ass. If he'd'a come thru my window, I would have thrown my cat at him. I want something with a bit more ass-pucker factor...I think that just having a shotgun pointed at you is already gonna end any escalation, unless the nigger is high as sheeeit..
There are a lot of great Turkish guns out there. Go pump only on those. I own a 1300 I use for clays. Do very well with it even amongst better shooters with better guns. It’s a 28 inch though.
From what I've seen most of the Turkish, and chicom, shotguns are Rem 870 derived. If one were to go that route I definitely recommend having it in your hands before you drop a dime. DON'T BUY A CHINK/TURK SHOTGUN SIGHT UNSEEN.
Idk about China, I would avoid, but the Turks have a very long history of being fine arms makers, it’s in their blood, like whiskey to Americans. I’m not kidding, look it up. I don’t care for it myself, but I might buy one if it’s the only thing available. Two names come to mind; Citadel and Dickenson.
Rem 870 or the mossberg comparable. Alternatively get an old double barrel with double triggers and have the barrels cut down.
Don't cut the barrel yourself with a hacksaw. Unless your cut is perfectly at right angles to the barrel, the slight distortion in the opening will throw our your pellet spread, and make it irregular. Practical experiance talking here.
Side by sides are cool in movies.
They're cool in real life too.
Highly ineffective though. Back in the day, two shots was the best available, that’s why they used them. I’d like a few more at hand if needed. I have a Side by side. It’s not my go to for defense.
Maverick 88 is mossbergs budget 500. Almost the same as the 500 with a receiver redesigned to be easier to manufacture. Very good gun, and low priced.
edit: wtf auto correct
Sounds like a winner, I will only ever need it to turn a nigger burglar's head into cat food anyway
I have had a Mossberg 500 for over 50 years and run thousands of rounds with zero problems. the 20' cyl. bore barrel makes a wide pattern and barrels are 'cheap'. The standard tube holds 6 and it will shoot 3" mag. shells. Hard to beat.
That seems to be a fave, and I do want a wide pattern so I don't have to aim too good, lol
Mossberg Shockwave. Fairly inexpensive and reliable. Based on the model 500. I use Aguila short shells to maximize my round capacity.
I LIKE IT!
870 or Mossberg 500. The two best available.
New 870s are not good at the moment.
