There may be those kind of services, I don't know ... but yes, it wouldn't be a bad idea. Me, I have all mine recorded in a software program with multiple backups on multiple computers/drives.
This is also great advice for almost anything of value in your home. It often happens that a kid's bike is stolen or a TV, and they get it back, but because you don't have the serial number, they won't return it. That's how they get all that crap for police auctions - LOL.
