I agree privacy is a paramount concern but in the case of gun locks it's one of those things they'll give you no questions asked b/c it keeps kids from firing them.

I get that and I'm not saying you're wrong.
But I would point out that cops/government agents have done some pretty shady shit in the past under the guise of "won't someone think of the children!"
