.338 RUM next to a 7.62 NATO round. This is a factory load but I also hand load for it as well.

I prefer lower calibers as they suit my soyboy shoulders more

Honestly with the brake my rifle has it is a very soft shooting gun.

Riffle tech has come along a lot, hasn't it. amazing you can shoot something like that without a lot of recoil. nice

Islay or GTFO

kind of too peaty for my tastes, but I'm sure that one day I'll just suddenly love it for some reason, because that's just how things go.

Maybe that's the kind you drink on the rocks or sommat - I just drink it neat because not drinking scotch neat just seems gay and uncivilised.

I've always prefered everything on the rocks. I can take my time sipping it, letting the ice slowly dilute it

Both are nice. Islay is something I like at the end of a night of drinking. The flavor is distinct enough to distinguish itself

I love seeing posts like this. Much better than news sites, etc.

yeah this sub is pretty dead with actual gun owners. everyone just posts articles and YouTube videos.

338 RUM is obviously the king for long range shooters... but how often are you going to use its capacity? irl i'd say maybe 1% of the time... so it's not needed. I'm against long range game shooting because more often than not people just wound animals, which is a really fucked thing to do.

I rarely if ever do any hunting. But it is nice to know I have a rifle that will take anything on the North American continent if needed. Its used more for long range shooting at 1000 yards.

very handy to have for what's ahead.

Where I live, most people who take the time and have invested in the equipment to hunt at those ranges have taken the time to ensure their shot placement. It's more often that I see the fucking 4wheeler road hunters gut blast a doe at 40yd and watch it run off where their fat ass can't hike to.

you're comparing the 2 extremes of the spectrum.

one bunch are fucking idiots that often drink while shooting and shoot anything. the others go beyond their confident range which creates unnecessary risk for the animal suffering.

animals should be viewed as more than just targets... unless we're talking about niggers.

I guess it'd depend on what a person considers to be "long range". And yeah, some hunters are way too callous and overconfident.
