Probably because of volume but .380 is expensive ammo. More so then 9mm and not much more available right now and in the foreseeable future.
Bersa is okay ish but if you are serious about a gun for self defense, you'll buy at least twice what the gun costs in practice ammo alone to become more proficient with it. Hard to do in this day and age because ammo is so sparse but that's what I would say.
If you intend to shoot often, carry, and train-- there are much better guns out there and they start around 450-500 for just the gun.
