40c a round is cheap comparatively my dad wanted to get some .357 magnum. Its pushing 1.90 a round. I spent 600 bucks this morning buying 300 rounds.
True, but that's 40c per corrosive round. The price of 7.62x39 is cheap compared to other calibers, but not compared to 7.62 prices just a month ago when you could get a thousand non-corrosive rds for $350, and now it's $550-$600.
Probably only going to get worse from here on out. I'm glad I didn't get a revolver now only because of the price of .357 compared to .40 S&W.
Corrosive ammo is honestly not that big of a deal. The ammo itself is not corrosive. It is the potassium salts found in the primers. They are hygroscopic and absorb water from the atmosphere which can cause rusting and corrosion. Bottom line is run some ballistol down the barrel and get over it. Most guns lived on a diet of the corrosive stuff for their whole lives and they are fine.
Yeah I plan on getting surplus, I always clean guns after every usage anyways.
Yeah i thankfully bought a bunch of ammo for all my guns in February last year anticipating this year would be insane. 9mm, .223, .308, .22lr, 12ga prices for everything are crazy right now if you can even find it in stock
That's good, man. I fucked up bad by not stocking up before the election for sure. I'm now interested in finding a way to produce primers and some kind of accelerant for a true long-term collapse. Probably near impossible though.
I'm just gonna have to use a good portion of my hard-earned fiat "currency" for ammo now I suppose. So be it.
