I am in 1 of these States. I am a little torn about all this. I got my CCL for $100. Went back 6 months later to DMV, paid them $200 to make my CCL permanent/lifetime/no renewal every 2 years. The actual CCL class, meant to be 8 hours long, we skipped lunch and breaks, and got out of there in about 5 hours. Had to put 20 rounds in target at 25' away, written test, simple.

The instructor had a written course plan, we followed along. But after every point the instructor taught us, the Q and A was always "this is what the Law is in this scenario". Basically the whole class was us asking the instructor (retired cop of course) about the legality of discharging firearm in different situations. I learned quite a bit. This was before "stand your ground Laws". Now, it appears my State has passed a Law, bypassing an actual in person class, and letting anyone do an 8 hour "online" class. Cost, $50 for CCL. Simple.

I am ALL FOR CONSTITUTIONAL CARRY. Criminals carry with no thought of repercussions. Cause they're criminals. Criminals here, and in other States think twice before introducing a gun in a situation, because they have no clue if any one else is carrying. IDC about the $ I already shelled out BUT I also don't care about any fucking yahoo having 1 concealed, or open carry. I believe a minimum of training is good, if only for the person to learn/understand Laws of discharging.

IF I had constitutional carry years ago without training, I would have done it in a heartbeat. But I never carried without the training class, cause I'm not a criminal and did not want to become a criminal just for carrying. Army trained and so forth. I'm probably over thinking it.

I'd rather have any fucking yahoo carrying a gun situation than having scenario where a criminal is threatening people with guns while everyone else is twiddling their thumbs waiting for cops to show up.

Absolute safety is an illusion. Some will train and some won't. However, everyone should be able to protect themselves to the best of their knowledge and ability with the least amount of barrier.
