A good chunk of that price is taxes, yes, but another good chunk of it is just because Brazilians are used to paying a lot for things.
Let's say, you are an American firearms brand and you want to go into the Brazilian market with your 100 dollars handgun. Forget about bureaucracy and taxes for a moment, you take a look at the market and see people paying 700 bucks for a G2c, 2k for a G19, even more for a Sig or a Smith.
Would you offer your handgun for 500?
Unfortunately that's the mindset here, and the cycle keeps it going.
Taxes usually account for a little more than 100% of the price of product + shipping, and there are fees and all, but there's no explanation for 2k gen4 glocks, and 5k ARs and 10k shitty mossberg bolt actions.
