Was thinking 30-30. I've never shot one but it looks like fun.

Worth it?

Had a chance to shoot a Winchester lever action 30-30 a few years back. Quality is miles better than Marlin. I would spend the extra money on a Winchester.

Pre 1964 model 94, 30-30 Winchester. Quality was less post 1964. So they say.

I wonder if this is true, or if it's just something old timers say to justify having paid so much fucking money back then. Ever seen really old magazines or comics from the 60's? They have gun adverts in them sometimes and they're like, $200 in 1960's money. If I paid ~$1500 for a budget rifle, I'd also say that it was well made.

The one I shot was new. Looked great, functioned great, and shot straight. As I said in another comment, the Marlin I had sucked cock. Crunchy action, constant failures to feed, seemed like a defective barrel, etc etc.

The extra money on Winchester is around 500$
