Little experience with Hi-Points, but I know some things:
They are reliable blowback bricks. They are only reliable after being truly broken in though, until then they will be unreliable.
They have a life-time warranty!
Another gun? Why not is my opinion on the matter!
Mine has been reliable from minute one. 600 rds downrange with no cleaning, no oil, no FTF, FTE, or stovepipes. I’m hoping to get through the 1000 rds I bought especially for this trial, without any hiccups. I have higher end guns that are more finicky. Oh yeah, and due to its weight, it’s pretty damn accurate as well.
Also you can pistol whip with it!
Cool to hear yours was reliable right off the bat!
Yeah, I’ve heard i was lucky. I will tell you though, the only irritating thing is the MAGA next, both it came with, don’t lock up well. After a bit of handling, it’s wiggles loose and has to be reseated. I carry it in my tank saddle bag on my Honda rancher quad in the back forty. The minimal bouncing around would likely mimic that of holster carry, if you wanted to carry a brick in that fashion.
