I had asked you guys for insight on how to attach a scope without paying 80 bucks for the normal mount for this 1926 Spanish Mauser chambered in 7mm. Since it was modified to be a sporterized rifle before I bought it and the stock was cut like this I ended up going with a barrel mount. The scope is mounted 2-3 inches more forward than it would normally be, but it works great. I leveled it out and everything and it works. Went with a long eye relief of course. Usually not a fan of these rifles besides mosins, but I like this one. Next is to refinish the stock to a chocolate stain with a flat finish. May reblue the barrel one day. Doing okay for a $175 gun

It works great. It really performs pretty well. It is only moved back a little considering where it is supposed to go. It is supposed to mount right up under the back of that scope on the iron sight there. You remove the iron sight and replace it with a mount, but the mount runs like 80 bucks.
