A "heavy" slide mounted scope can reduce recoil. I suppose it's not an issue with lightweight scopes or other mounts, but perhaps with a match pistol. Zero power scopes should work with 2-eye techniques. I'm pretty sure I've seen that in a video, but I couldn't think of which video now.
