Your people make awesome fucking rifles. I have had, prior to a boating accident, an old K-31. The cost on the ammo sucks, but the damn thing is nearly a century old and still does circa 1moa. Crazy-town.
Yeah I'm lucky to live in a country which produces fine weapons and has a law allowing me to own them. I love the K-31 but never realized that in other countries the ammo would be relatively scarce and therefore pricey. Over here we can buy the ammo pretty cheap since it's still used as ordnance.
American here. Yeah, we call it 7.55 Swiss, and if you want it it's synonymous with the k-31. I'm sure there are other rifles chambered in it here, but i've never seen one. It's still relatively obscure, it used to be a hella expensive rifle until your country decided they didn't need to keep a million of them in storage any longer and decided to sell the lot. I picked up mine during that time before the price went back up.
The gun laws seem in your country seem like they're the best in all of Europe. Do you mind if I ask, how do other Europeans conceive of Swiss gun culture? Do they consider it backwards? Or just a quirk? Or do they hope that your gun rights are clamped down on soon?
Congrats on picking up a fine rifle at the right time.
Yes I agree that we have the best gun laws in Europe. And that's exactly why the left wants to change that. It's basically the same as in the US, they start restricting stuff like magazine capacity, you have to prove that you're in a gun club and practice regularly and other hoops the law abiding citizen have to jump through. When I was still serving in the military every soldier took his rifle home and stored it there together with a tin can of live rounds. In case of sudden war the soldier could defend himself until he reached the meeting point. But then someone argued it's too dangerous that about half of the male population has a rifle and bullets at home. So they stopped handing out the tin cans. (Oh btw if you "lost" one of those you were in biig trouble). So for a while the soldiers just had their rifle at home and nowadays many don't even take their rifle home anymore and instead store it at the armory. The end goal is the same as in the US. They wish all weapons would just disappear.
People from other European countries are either jealous of our gun laws or they are leftists and horrified that there are so many guns in this country :)
