I see absolutely no advantage to this concept. I think it's just another one off type firearm that will one day become a collectors item solely due to it's oddity. Interesting appearance, and upgrading firearms in general is well overdue, but this isn't 'it'.

What about the points of aim? What about an emp? What about water? If his bullets are 4 to a block, how many blocks does it hold at once before needing reloaded? What about the heat build up and storage in that chunk of a barrel?

At least they admit it has to offer something to make up for the increased complexity.

If the US military was keen to increase the effectiveness of their rifles, they should withdraw from the treaty prohibiting explosive anti-personnel rifle rounds.
