POTUS knows that most of his perceived power in fucktown Washington is his support from middle America and the power that the fly-over States bring with them. It's not just their votes, it's the fact that they are very well armed, and the blue States know this; Trump won't kick his own feet out from underneath himself. He sometimes comes off as unhinged but he doesn't strike me as suicidal.
