I never got to experience the "good ol' days"...
I caught the tail end of them and from what I saw and can reflect upon with an adult mind now, they were very good days.

That M1 looks tasty.
I've shot a 10 gauge 3 1/2" Magnum double barrel shotgun that my uncle had for turkey hunting. OMG, did that kick like a mule! Worse than a rifle!
I inherited my dad's .308 Enfield and 30.06 Springfield. Dad made a custom stock for the 30.06, bought a beautiful AA grade unfinished stock, checkered and finished it himself. My prized possession.
I keep trying to convince my father to sell me his .357 stainless Magnum revolver. He hasn't shot that in probably a decade and his response is "when I die". He's amazed I want nothing to do with his .357 Colt Python. But to me that thing should never be shot because they weren't made all that great back in the '70s. I would like to re-nickel it though and put it in a case.

Excellent idea for a Father's Day gift!
I didn't see any date but I'd guess the ad is from about late 50's early 60's. I bought my 1st firearm at Montgomery Wards, i was 16. They had an open gun rack in the men's department. You just grabbed the gun you liked and brought it up the the service counter. It was a Ruger 10/22 that cost me a whopping $54.00.
I'd be happy with $90 Mosins, and $300 AKs again. Thousand round cases of 7.62x39 steel case for like $150. Five hundred rounds of 9mm for $60 on sale. Hell I still have a few 20rnd boxes of .22lr subsonics with the $0.20 sticker on them.
But then like 15-20 years ago ARs weren't as prolific so prices on the limited offerings that were out there were horrendous.
Oh, to go back in time and snag up a dozen or so Garands..
When is that, tho? 1958?
