I can't say if this will be more successful or not. I have been in touch with the 7e... guy and he has a plan, vision, financing, etc. I would say it's not impossible for both Goat's Gulch and Emergency Nation to coexist. It's even quite possible for EN and GG to have land next to eachother.
GG is more ancap/voluntaryist, EN is more traditionalist, alt-right-ish minarchist. I would put reasonable odds on the same land being used for both in some areas. I think GG has the upper hand with "boots on the ground" and EN with constitution, plans, followers, money, etc.
I would say GG is more idealistic, EN more practical. Kind of depends on what you like.
From what I can tell, GG would work better as a business clan instead of an actual country. Like a guild.
You could harbor Ancaps and help them to traffic goods and avoid taxes. Your 'gulches' could be safehouses, GG only Bars, Inns, etc.

Pretty fair point. I have thought about that a little bit, also about having a "city as a business". More of a for-profit city model that could encourage more competition between cities.
