A group of leading Congressional Democrats are seeking to punish longtime US ally Saudi Arabia for the latest "shock" oil output cuts recently announced by OPEC, which was taken by the Biden administration as a direct slap in the face and shot across the bow.

Senator Chris Murphy and Rep. Ro Khanna are leading the charge to get advanced anti-air missile systems which the Pentagon has stationed in Saudi Arabia removed and transferred to Ukraine. The systems were sent there over the past several years following an uptick in missile and drone attacks by Yemeni Houthi rebel attacks on Saudi cities and energy infrastructure coming from the south.

Murphy announced in a Thursday statement, "For several years, the US military has deployed Patriot missile defense batteries to Saudi Arabia to help defend oil infrastructure against missile and drone attacks. These advanced air and missile defense systems should be re-deployed to bolster the defenses of eastern flank NATO allies like Poland and Romania — or transferred to our Ukrainian partners."

As a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Murphy also lent his voice to ongoing calls to "freeze new military aid to Saudi Arabia" - which would possibly impact the pending sale and transfer of Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) to Riyadh based on a previously approved contract of $650 million

"Policy decisions have consequences, and these steps would right-size [the] relationship with Saudi Arabia and help Ukraine," he said this week. The Congressional movement to drastically reevaluate and change the US-Saudi arms relationship has gained traction ever since the October 2018 killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, as well as growing alarm over Saudi massacres in Yemen and the dire humanitarian situation.

...

Rep. Khanna too grew more vocal this week following Riyadh not playing ball with Washington on desired levels of near-term oil output. "At the very least, the Patriot missiles will be suspended," Khanna forewarned.

"The reality is that there is no economic case for what they are doing. This was punitive for Americans and it is aiding [Russia's President Vladimir] Putin," the representative from California added.

The ideological stock in trade of the democrat party, like every far left leaning party, is efficient when you're in the opposition, in the minority; you criticize everything and you have unicorns, also you give free shits... If people vote for you...

And it works very well, we can all see how they got there; by shitting on those in charge and proposing the exact opposite of what they do, since they had nothing to propose in the first place... It's only when they are fully in charge that things really turn south for them, because none of their shit works, and there are tons of it all over the place, and they are responsible for all of it, there's no possible denial of responsibility this time, they are in charge, not in the opposition, not anymore and since a little while now

It's a case of a bunch of maoists calling for an overthrow of the ruling class in china today... No they aren't going to call for an overthrow of themselves, not anymore, at least they shouldn't float the idea

Precovid when things were still bad but they weren’t personally feeling it or thought it was temporary amd they were in denial.

I’ve told the stories a thousand times but you’d ask them why do we have this stupid law or something about the homeless and they’d automatically reply with “conservative Christians”. Then I’d chuckle and say we’re in a blue city, in a blue state and they would just get pissed and mumble while walking away.

Then it became “we’re tired of one party rule but republicans need to become less extreme and promote climate change, gun laws, and other<insert lefty idea> etc”. And they still voted blue.

Then Covid hit and the non-ending protests. They almost elected an antifa mayor but she/it lost by only 13%.

Now Portland and the suburbs are overrun with crime, the cops don’t do anything and the idiots in this county with a soros DA just voted to keep the “enhanced” sheriff program which doesn’t make sense because they do absolutely nothing except ticket drivers, criminals get the catch and release privilege, if they get arrested at all.

Portland proper is a shell of its former self. I can no longer go there, it’s been racially divided and negros have no loyalty except to their own. Whites lack that capability and will join in. There’s constant fights if you go out now. Besides the random shootings, stabbings, violent homeless, inflation, rent and “strong armed robberies” which is only considered “aggressive pan handling” so you can’t legally defend yourself.

The burbs have become were people have escaped to and everyone gets along for now at least, it’s weird. But the burbs have basically become a little less crime ridden Portland.

And in both places people are pissed because it’s now effecting them personally and the people in charge only talk about compassion for the homeless and abortion, no solutions for the average person. But people are angry about prices, the crime, the out of control rents and not allowing builders to build outside certain areas, everything must be high density before a new tract can be opened.

They may retain control here because the lines were just redrawn but they may be underestimating how angry and “unsafe/nervous/lack of control” people are feeling and some may flip, vote third party or stay home.
