That's sleep deprivation. Talking from years of experience.

Aye. Makes it a little more shocking when there's actually somebody there.

I keep thinking I see a rat or mouse run by in my peripheral. I will stop and sit still and listen for any commotion. No critter. The last several months I've only been sleeping in 2 or 3 hour chunks, so that's probably it...oh, and glasses.

Glasses of whiskey?

HaHa! Nah I drank drinking out of myself about a decade ago. My wife still likes to drink and I like to drive, so we go together like peas & carrots.

I've been off the hard stuff for about that long. Too thirsty for that. About a year no beer. That I miss... I'd probably get some good sleep with a 12 pack in me, but it is not to be.

I see odd things out of the corner of my eyes at times. I have to assume my mental condition is slipping.

Getting enough (real, deep) sleep?

[–] 3 pts

Not in the slightest, toddlers. I'll be exhausted for just a few decades more.

Might be your problem right there.

I've experienced this before. Always in the periphery, nothing there when I was looking. Be very careful.

Always. Had to do some trenching yesterday and came across some stone dust at about a foot down. Sure enough, unmarked gas line not set to proper depth. Stone dust is okay for a backfill, but nice yellow sand is so much easier to see.

My youngest is 19. Just starting to recover

Are you on any drugs that can cause an increase or decrease in the size of your pupils?

[–] 0 pt

No drugs or booze for this guy. Used to love me some mushrooms, but it's been a good while.

Happens to me with high contrast elements.

The brain is supposed to discard they optical artefacts, but sometimes doesn’t. Especially when something in the peripheral region is slowly moving (parallax effect or light motion).

I think it happens to cats, which explains why sometimes they suddenly start running like crazy for no reasons. They probably believe they saw a mouse or something.

Did you just call me a fuckin cat?!

Are you?

We've got dogs, birds, potatoes already....

Not trying to dox myself, but when we were kids my oldest brother was a meerkat, next brother was an otter, and I was an arctic fox.
