Adjust for IQ and that correlation goes away. I'm not saying fat people are all dumb, there are a lot of factors that can affect that, but the more intelligent you are the more likely it is you will find a way to lose weight. I also suspect that by fat they mean obese. And you do have to be pretty stupid to let it get that bad.
