In the case of these two, I don't believe they have EVER worked 50 hours in a week.
My MIL has been glomming off of disability for over a decade. Before that her employment was very hit or miss.
The deadbeat soon to be ex of my wife's sister hasn't worked a job in well over a decade and has subsisted as a parasite to both her and his own kin.
These two people are the kind of awful that is without excuse.

I’ll still say it’s much easier to get fat with todays food than it was 100 years ago. Beyond that, though, yeah - personal choice plays its role.
