There's a reason gluttony is one of the deadly sins. It is an offense against God to abuse your body and your soul with bestial gratifications and animal excesses. Although, even most animals will not eat themselves to death the way some humans do. Gluttony is a slow form of suicide, just like drug addiction or alcoholism.
