Ive found with black bears thats more myth than reality. Several up close encounters with black bears with cubs, one where the cubs sprinted right past me and left me standing between them and momma bear, maybe 30 yards to each. They just want to get their cubs the fuck away from people in my experience. Only aggressive black bears ive encountered have been boars. But grizz, all bets are off. If i can go the rest of my life without getting within 300 yards of a grizz id be just fine with that.

The problem is the bears get used to people and eventually have to be euthanized. This is a fat selfish bitch. Park regulations require a distance of 300 feet. I personally know a man who was hunting black bear, and a grizzly attacked him. He reported that all he saw was a brown blur before it hit him. He had a chance to put a bullet into it's chest and it didn't even slow it down. It tore half his face off. One eye, his tongue and nose. It ate part of both his hands. Lucky to be alive. He's facing years of surgeries. He wears a plastic face mask. The bear heard the man's father calling his name, and tried to get him too. He blasted it behind the shoulder likely piercing the lungs, heart etc. It brought it down. Weighed over 600 lbs. Fish and Game investigated the incident. These bears can close a distance of 300 ft in seconds. I wouldn't fuck with one. I carry bear spray to walk my dog here. Humans are stupid fuckers.
