That's how I found out my baseline metabolism is only 1800 calories a day. If I eat more than that I gain weight. If I want to lose a pound per week I have to eat less than 1400 calories a day. Everyone has a baseline metabolism no matter what metabolism you have.

It's almost impossible to eat only 1400 calories if you're eating burgers, pasta, bread, and other shit food. If you eat a lot of fruit and vegetables it's a lot easier. 1400 calories is like 20 oranges or ten bowls of oatmeal. 1/4-lb of chicken thigh is 240 calories. Oatmeal for breakfast, 1/4-lb chicken thigh and an orange for lunch, an apple for snack, and you're still free to eat 900 calories for dinner.
