storage bin used as a nightstand

Maybe I'm pathetic, but I did stuff like this for a while. When my wife and I were saving to buy a house, we ended up moving a lot. We'd find a tolerable place, move in, then they'd raise the rent after a year. It was worth it for us to move. After this happened twice, we stopped using cardboard boxes and started using these plastic ones and never truly unpacked. We'd minimize the amount of furniture and just place the bed on the floor. By the end of it we could move out of a old place and into a new place in a few hours using a $20 uhaul trailer.

One time, the land lord tried to raise rent on us by $400/month. This is despite never being late on a rent payment, having a spotless credit history, and driving used paid off cars. We also bought a nice HD camcorder just so we could do the initial walk around with it. Every time, we got our entire deposit back as well--though one time it took sending a demand letter with a court date. This was over a decade ago during the greenspan housing bubble. I think the bubble is worse now, but luckily we have a house so it hasn't affected us yet.

That's not to say that the androgynous blob in the picture isn't a pathetic fatbody. However, copious use of plastic storage bins and minimal furniture is the only way I could move on to the the next phase of my life in this clown world.
