Why would you eat raw hamburger? That's just asking for contamination.

Steak tartare is a meat dish made from raw ground (minced) beef or horse meat. It is usually served with onions, capers, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and other seasonings, often presented to the diner separately, to be added for taste. It is often served with a raw egg yolk on top of the dish.

Ah, yes, I forgot about that disgusting piece of cuisine.

Never tried it - I'd probably only try raw beef in a tartare form if it was from pristine, untouched by migrant, European mountain town from animals that have never been chemically infused like 98% of American beef.

Maybe.

You're supposed to take a solid cut of meat and grind it before serving, not use preground grocery store meat that comes from who knows where. Bacteria doesn't travel through muscle, just wash it before grinding and it's pretty safe. US beef isn't like pork and chicken, much more sanitary. Almost all beef cattle are pastured, not factory farmed, for a variety of reasons.
