Even though they might’ve corrected it, the goal is to get that initial, hot-off-the-press misinformation out there. Once someone is lied to, there’s no telling how long it will take for them to learn the truth, and by then they’ll have passed it on to others. Make no mistake, this is deliberate and very malicious.
