This was most definitely an act of malice, a smear campaign, a deliberate conscious move to spread m̶i̶s̶i̶n̶f̶o̶r̶m̶a̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ lies and promote racial tension/conflict abroad. Something as big as the details of the Rittenhouse case, it's impossible that this publication didn't know, they had to have known.
