What we need is a few nuclear power plants designed the right way.
Don't do things like use battery powered DC based motors to run the cooling pumps and don't put your backup generators in the basement. If the plant is running, it's making AC power. The DC shit fails after the batteries go dead and your charging generators go off line. Don't use Russian style designs that make more power the hotter they get until they meltdown (for you engine builders, a Russian design is a wankle, while us designs are pushrod motors). Us designs hit a peek then start losing power to keep it somewhat self limiting). Nuclear is the way to go. Small footprint, big power.
