AEP Ohio says new data centers and Intel’s $20 billion planned chip plant will increase strain on the grid.

Since 58 or so, I think...there was a 2.1GW fossil plant in Conesville, OH. It shut down April 2020, and is now just a cleanup site. Many of AEP's fossil plants have gone offline...I wonder why the grid is strained.

Fuckers.

They are doing this around me too. I went to check in on how that was going, closing the plants, and they are all delayed by at least a year. I think you are going to see red/purple states keep kicking the can down the road, and blue states diving in, ending up with industry leaving because there's not enough power. I think the ones who know better are realizing you can't replace gigawatt coal plants with 2-8MW solar fields. I think you are gonna see a lot of stuff that was going to close this year be postponed until after the election in hopes Biden goes away.
