Meritocracy is giving the job to the most qualified person. People who dislike this practice are stupid and dangerous. I want my pilot, neurosurgeon, home builder, chef, bus driver or engineer to be the most competent person available. I don’t care about anything other than their ability to do their job competently. It is ludicrous to want any other method of job selection. Beware of anyone who gives a reason why merit is not the best job qualifier.
