I'm an old dude. I remember cars that could move sideways from around 30 years ago. It was part of four-wheel independent steering. Not only the front wheels, but the back wheels of the car were able to turn. They never caught on. I believe BMW, or maybe it was Mercedes, made such a car. At the time my only thoughts about it were "useless" and "dangerous."
