For google, that's a feature, not a flaw
I'm always amazed by any person that actually uses cloud storage- especially google.
It's fine for doing a point-to-point transfer, I use it all the time to send large zipped files to coworkers who immediately download it.
But using it for long-term storage? No thanks.
Who in their right minds as an individual trust your data to a "cloud"? Terabyte drives and stand-alone enclosures are cheap; setting up a 4-drive 5TB RAID backup storage system is trivial. Place said enclosure and drives inside an EMP-proof metal grounded container, use a fiber-optic connection and dedicated FiO card on computer. Takes about 2 hours to set up or less with Linux. Encrypt all data. 5 Terabytes of data safe, relatively speaking.
Companies have been sold on cloud computing and infrastructure like it's going to solve all the problems in the world. That's the only thing I have for you.
