We've already been "prepping" even though I'm not much of a believer, plus we live in a unique location where, short of getting bombed, we don't have to worry, too much.
If there is a specific threat, I'm not aware, other than what we are witnessing now, which is an information and misinformation war where chaos is being pushed from all sides.
We've all seen how these moves have sought to make everyone fat, weak and stupid.
Water treatment has been attacked. Electrical grids.
Mainly make sure you have the ability to live without power and water for a minute. I couldn't imagine a blackout could last very long. Either have alternate power or just be fine without power.
Have camping gear.
Know where your local equipment rental yards are (generators, light towers, etc.) Know someone with a truck and a set of bolt cutters that can tow said generator.
Trash pump and crow bar, to take fuel from gas stations.
Guns, obviously.
Gold.
A boat.
Have the ability to produce essential items. Soap is easy, for example. Weed. Tobacco.
But, again, I couldn't imagine many scenarios where we were totally shut down for any extended period of time.
Obviously, they have been using predictive programming on a blackout scenario. Movies. TV. Comics. Even Q, with "10 days of darkness". Until the last month or so, I wouldn't have assumed ransomware was one avenue to begin to achieve that because it is generally not THAT hard to deal with. But we have a new one that is shutting down hospitals, cities and schools that has evolved rapidly over the last two months, alone.
I feel that a lot of people in charge expect something more to come of this or are simply preparing, just in case.
Either way, it's time to ditch Windows, if you are an organization of any kind of import.
As for information... keeping an eye on power grids and hospitals.
You have good instincts for cause and effect. Not a lot of people can distinguish between a gut check, and the cause of their gut check.
If you're expecting what they're expecting it means you're keyed in to what they're worried about.
Seems like the u.s. government, for all the confidence it projects, isn't all that confident about its basic abilities to defend its own infrastructure, and maybe has some sort of backup policies it would push through if it failed. Never let a good crisis go to waste and all that.
Also explains the huge push over the last ten years or so, besides make-work, for cybersecurity degrees/recruits. And that makes even more sense in light of how absurdly effective drones were shown to be in the recent armenian conflict. Cyber and infrastructure would be a huge component of a new accelerated drone-based orientation to mass conflict.
Ah yes. Knowledge of jamming and making EMPs is not that complicated. Also, "hidden camera detectors" and "bug detector" abilities can be magnified applied to detect drones from a long way away.

I know there are studies to detect tornados before they form based on their "inaudible" infrasound signature. I wonder if the same is possible with drones? I figure military drones are already designed with a small IR and radar profile, and some are designed to be hard for people to hear. But "hard for people to hear" is different from "hard for microphones to detect."
