I'm no expert, but it's basically a peer to peer system decentralized on a block chain ledger, allowing anyone to communicate with anyone else through digitized transactions which become increasingly harder to censor the more nodes come online.
You're forgetting the important part that a 51% chain hack can be easily done by even the simple quantum computer. That these computers exist and the government can at anytime wipe out the chain.
That business will get ahold of them in less then five years, giving the effective lifespan of the network about 3 more years.
