From the post:

>My decade-old and very well-travelled 13" MacBook Pro finally died, and I hoped my new-ish M2 iPad Pro could replace it. Yet no matter how hard I try, an iPad cannot serve me like a Mac does and I can’t help but wonder why. Some of it must be my mindset: Nearly 50 years of using computers equipped with keyboards and screens "programmed" me with certain expectations. Fourteen years of using iPads has programmed me with a very different set of capabilities. I think I could unlearn some habits but only after enormous efforts. Operating systems therefore look like another reason I can’t make the iPad my main machine.

iPads are for consumption of media and games. There is little you can do with iPads if you are wanting to do work or create outside of very simplistic work tasks or minor artistic things. The whole iOS ecosystem is designed to keep you locked in, mildly entertained and constantly giving Apple money for the privilege of being made stupid and poor.

Just because it shares some technology with general purpose computers like desktops and laptops does not mean they are equivalent. They are intentionally hobbled to keep you a slave to paid content and apps inside the Apple walled garden. They are worthless devices and not worth owning if you have any braincells.

And that's his entire argument. "My tablet isn't a laptop!"

Yeah, well a pair of roller skates isn't a car, even though both have wheels.
