That's kind of a stupid thing to do, you consume the same amount of energy regardless of if you charge at 1x or 10x - it's just the amount you consume. It still adds up to the same amount.

However, there is a downside. Power supplies are not 100% perfect, there's always losses. You notice those in the form of heat. Say you have a 30Wh battery that you charge at 30W/h, it takes about an hour. You're probably operating your power supply in it's best efficiency range, so losses are minimized, we'll say you lose 3W, for a total of 33W consumed.

Now you do that at 3W/h, that's 10 hours of charge time and your power supply is no longer in it's most efficient range. You're losing 4W/h now, so you consume 30 watts for your charge and 40W for your losses. Your power supply is on longer, gets hotter, and probably fails quicker.

Way to go Apple. Consume more power to virtue signal. Then again, Virtue Signalling is just energy wasted without motion...

Doesn't matter, slow charging is considered virtue signaling and that's way more important than saving energy. Just like turning off coal plants and fossil fuel plants. It's virtue signaling and it's more important than keeping society functioning.

Apple didn't go woke, it was created woke.

How does the phone know this shit? Seems like bullshit. How does a device know that the 3-5A is “clean” or dirty? Battery pack or wall?
