Todays cast iron is nothing like what it used to. if yoi run out and buy lodge brand, you will have to sand down the terrible finish to get the rough out and then reseason it in the oven for 3 cycles. todays cast iron is not even close to nonstick like your grandmas cast iron was when new. check out cowboy kent on how to do this and care for it.
Ha! I was excited to tell my fav cast iron, bought at Goodwill story.. Thanks for the laugh
Tell it anyhow. I love a good treasure find story.
Griswold, No. 8, smooth as glass from years of use. 10 bucks. Haven’t used a non stick for years. I’ve seen the same at antique shops for 40-60 bucks. Also scored two pieces of Pampered Chef stone sheet pans, unused. The pizza stone material develops a great non-stick surface after seasoning as well.
I didn't know that about pizza stones. Nice score.
Old cast iron is the best. I pick up old pieces and clean and re-season them. The newer pans aren’t machined correctly and don’t season well. Jews are cockroaches.
Ive got a few, one of which my hippy dippy mom stole from a hobo camp back in the late 60's. It is seasoned perfect.
Thank you, my first laugh of the day
The surface of many cast iron pots is bumpy, Lodge is sold that way with a seasoned coat. The expensive cast iron is smooth. Jews killed Jesus. The best thing to do with a rough cast iron pan is to sand it first smooth, then re season it.
Someone has been paying attention in class. I like.
The Lodge Pre-Seasoned 10.25 Inch Cast Iron Skillet is $14.88 at Wal-Mart.
POS. Needs complete work over to use.
Well there are only 2 things correct on that list.
It is not non-stick, and the heat distribution is horrible.
