What's more likely to be a hoax? The moon landing, which hundreds of millions of people saw live on television? Or an individual's confession to his son?
If it was taped on a stage in advance and later televised as being "live from the moon", how would anyone at home know the difference? There was massive pressure to show Americans on the moon. Remember that millions of people believed the Warren Report that Lee Harvey Oswald was the lone assassin.

There's a bit more to it than that.
All I needed though was to watch "Astronauts Gone Wild" and you can tell they're all lying.
I hate it, but that's my conclusion.
Everybody can believe what they want.
