You know what would cause a massive flood? a comet impact. I like your hypothesis on the comet and I don't see how it would disprove the claims of giants.
What leads me to not believe in giants, is that they did not show up in rich people's collections. Mummies? in collections. Sumerian tablets? rich collections. Dinosaurs and rare fossils? rich collections. Giants? missing.
If you go to the museum, pay attention to how much is "on loan" you are looking at a rich person's tax write off as they show off their plunder. If giants were real, there would be an international hunt for them now, because we would be trying to put their dna into human egg cells.
