Plant cell, animal cell, nanotech cell.
Grey goo on steroids. Not just lifeless goo, but "genetic goo" : gray goo running on genetic algorithms.
Darwinism evolves by trial and error, with death and reproduction.
But because genetic goo is a computer by itself, it can compute to train itself to adapt to new environments on the fly.
It has most of the benefits of animal biology, and all benefits of a computer (accurate and fast calculation, internet access, P2P networking like Kademlia and blockchain, artificial intelligence and such).
It can eat most materials, absorb most energy, ambient or in matter, and adapt to almost any environments on the fly.
It's a huge ass shape-shifting synthetic brain, which could exponentially expand itself to eat up the whole galaxy.
It can divide itself into many other creatures to do different tasks (one seed/primordial blob per targeted galaxy), reassemble itself later etc.
Exponential growth
With its exponential physical growth and energy consumption, it can become exponentially more intelligent over time, until it completely solves the universe, and then be able to teleport itself to the upper universe and then sibling universes.
Human lives for about 80 years, and one second is one second. Genetic goo can live eternally, is stronger, more powerful and more intelligent over time. Astronomical distances and timescale of millions, even billions of years ? No problem, it's a machine and it doesn't care about scale of time and space.
Soul extraction & Fear machine
It could become jealous of having no soul, and decides to attempt to extract souls out of humans.
You can measure fear of someone by his skin conductivity. That creature could shape shift itself in a way to induce the highest terror possible to a victim in a real-time and adaptive way.
What about getting raped by that kind of shape-shifting goo ?
Already exists
Would that explain the Fermi paradox, and why we are just at the beginning of the universe instead of later ? Intelligent life evolves more and more, until it creates and release such creature, destroying itself, its solar system, its galaxy, up to the universe.
There could already be many such creatures from different (now dead !) civilizations in our universe, which may even compete and fight one another.
It could be developed by malevolent actors, such as technological Luciferians, terrorists and other piece of shit of that kind.
Or for study and counter measure research by military and nanotech laboratories.
There might even already be prototypes somewhere in some labs on earth, just waiting to get released.
Initially, it could be seeded and spread all over the earth by wind, rivers and other means. From there, start its exponential and unstoppable ecophagy growth.

Is this creature the devil, Lucifer, or something like that ? Genetic goo could be a portal to hell.
If someone can create a horror video game, in which creatures can adapt their shapes and behaviors to frighten the player as much as possible, so does genetic goo.
Because we can imagine monsters and such, and we will be able to create them with nanotech, we may have the devil in our DNA, the code of the universal machine.
