The whole thing is just an advertising stunt, someone else has the manufacturing and logistics of actually making and shipping the product. If it tanks, it's only cost a few commercials. I estimate that they have spent less than 100k on the whole media blitz. And the reported pre-order numbers indicate they've already seen $2,000,000 come in.
It wreaks for the usual (((obvious))) reasons, but I bet we will find somebody playing both sides on this one.
