I find your claims to be dubious. The family unit is very much natural. Even in primates. Studies have shown that a fathers presence is very important to the proper development of kids. This directly contradicts your claims.

A nuclear family does NOT necessarily exclude grandparents. However, there is a limited supply of grandparents in a healthy society. Not every family can have them. They have to share.
