It's probably to confuse the idea of shots killing people. Maybe it's so they can fill the first page of Google with the nightclub shots killing people instead of the fake vaccine that kills people.

I remember in the 70s, there were hypodermic needles in every bit of candy you got from someone on halloween, it even came to the small town I lived in. None of it verifiable, of course, just "Random person attended random event at random store and received random candy with needle."

Then in the 80s, it was hypodermic needles in payphone coin return slots, all of them with an apparent self-replenishing note that stated "Welcome to the world of AIDS."

There was something in the 90s as well, but by then I quit paying attention to that kind of news.

I recall hearing of attempted store robberies 15 - 20 years ago where a used syringe was the weapon of choice. That fad didn't last long.

Guy I knew in San Diego got stabbed with a dirty needle at a hooka bar. He got a terrible infection and was mentally unstable for a time. Fever and acting out.
