Yeah an island in the ring of fire where a tidal wave big enough to wipe it all out in a few minutes. I'd think underground in western Australia off the grid and isolated from everything including tech would be far smarter a move in a self made tunnel or bunker in a defensible position.

No tidal wave could cover New Zealand, not ever. Haven't you seen Lord Of The Rings, which was filmed there? Huge snow-covered mountains and high elevation are just part of the charm.

I forgot to write it's part of the ring of fire so if the plate shifted taking out california if likely would effect new zealand and japan also if it was a big shift it would be bad for anyplace on it's boundaries.
