Hell, my parents let the electric company gain control over their thermostat. They took the smart meter plus the thermostat that is coupled to the system. They literally CAN'T turn on the AC during the day, it won't let them. This is in Michigan, by the way, not California.. but these days that line is becoming more and more blurred. They literally let the electric company put their freedom to use their appliances on lockdown. Fucking boomers.
