Breaking: VIDEO—Police in Boulder appear to have one suspect who is bleeding heavily from his right thigh in custody at the King Soopers active shooting scene.

This video shows the police walking the alleged King Soopers shooter away in handcuffs. You can see that his right leg is completely covered in what appears to be blood from the knee down. Yes, it appears that he's bleeding heavily, but I don't see a tourniquet. Don't you think he'd still be leaving some amount of blood on the concrete as he's walking? Strange, no?

From what can see it looks like his calf is wounded? Another darker patch on the inside of the knee? It's strange that his whole leg is covered in blood, from my experience of destroying my calves/shins those areas don't bleed THAT bad and wouldn't require a tourniquet. As you probably know, unless it's a very obvious arterial bleeding you should attempt to stop the bleeding with a pressure dressing and by elevating the limb, tourniquets should only be used as last resort. I assume because paramedics are on scene the swat is not bothering with triage. Still a weird amount of blood for a calf? wound.

Thanks for chiming in and you've made several excellent points. You're right, a tourniquet would be the last resort if he isn't suffering from an arterial wound. Even if he is bleeding from his calf and they were applying pressure before walking him out, I would think the wound would start bleeding again once he was up and walking again. Regardless, it's crazy that his whole leg is covered in blood. It'll be interesting to see how the media explains his injury.

This may be the case, but I saw this morning that Drudge's main photo is of him being led away and his leg is just drenched in blood, so given this, it may be too difficult for the MSM to ignore at this point.
