Gaslighting is an incredibly common manipulation tactic used by people to get their way. Learning about gaslighting was a peering behind plato's curtain experience for me. I have been astonished by my own innate instinct to use the tactic, you wouldn't believe how frequently people innocently gaslight each other. If you are one of the people who thinks that gaslighting isn't real, boy do I have news for you! The elites have been gaslighting us for a long time. They've been saying how crazy it is to resist a social security number, that they would never use your devices to monitor your private life...but I digress. At it's worst, Gaslighting can make the subject wonder if it's time to check into an institution. It can lead people to keep journals/screenshots for later sanity checking reference.
